Kashgar, China

Kashgar (also known as Kashi) is an ancient city on the Silk Road in China’s far west. Even today the city’s name, like Samarkand and Bukhara, evoke romantic images of a remote desert oasis with colourful bazaars, exotic peoples and a fascinating past - a living museum. Kashgar is China’s most western city, close to the mountains of Karakorum and the neighboring nations of Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan.
