In November 2006, I travelled with 17 students from Li Po Chun United World College in Hong Kong to the remote lepers’ village of Ma Chan, situated at 3000 metres altitude in the Eastern Himalaya mountains of Yunnan province, south-west China.  Our task was to paint the interiors of several houses of the residents, first cleaning off the accumulated soot and stripping the walls.  Many of the elderly residents spend all winter inside, and we wanted to make their living environment healthier.  This gallery shows the project.  You can read the background to the trip by clicking “Lepers” in the menu above.  Click any image to enlarge it and experience the full impact of this service project.  You can also see the images I took of Ma Chan village in 2005 HERE , HERE and HERE.
