International Evening
International Evening
Sunday, 14 September 2008
A very successful Orientation Week for our new students finished last night with an International Dinner and Show, presented by our 2nd Year students. The event began with a special buffet dinner in the canteen, featuring the flavours of the world. The food, lovingly prepared by our 2nd Year students together with the canteen staff, was served by students in national dress at various points in the canteen. With national flags decorating the circular glass wall and the students in their national dress, it was certainly a colourful event where many students seemed to spend more time taking photos of each other than eating the great food.
The show in the Courtyard that followed the dinner was sensational! The 2nd Year students presented the music, dance, humour and traditions of their various regions of the world in a two hour performance that kept the audience spell-bound throughout. I thought it was the best of these 2nd Year international shows I have experienced, and I congratulate the students who prepared such breathtaking performances, all in their own time. I also thank Ronny Mintjens, the teacher-advisor, for his excellent input in helping to make the show the thoroughly professional and fun-filled event that it was.
I have included a few images here to give some idea of the evening. You can click these thumbnails for enlargements, and if you want to see a larger gallery of 50 images that I included on my Facebook page, you can click HERE.
