Welcome to the new students
Welcome to the new students
Sunday, 6 September 2009
This has been a busy weekend, with (almost) all the new 1st Year students arriving on the campus. Orientation Week starts in earnest tomorrow morning, but today has been an exhilarating time of meeting and welcoming new students from all corners of the world. In clear and sunny (but quite hot weather), students have been arriving, some from the airport accompanied by our 2nd Year students who went to meet and greet them, and some by car with their families.
After an extremely pleasant poolside afternoon tea with the new parents, we enjoyed a special welcome dinner in the canteen, followed by a sequence of stunning performances with a Chinese theme in the courtyard that said to the new arrivals: “Welcome to China. Welcome to Hong Kong. Welcome to Li Po Chun United World College”.
I have been extremely impressed with the new 1st Year students I have met so far, and given the outstanding calibre of this group of 2nd Year students, I am looking forward to a great year!
