Scotland and Faroe Islands Travel Diary 2023

Today’s drive was quite short, but as we spent a long time exploring Stirling Castle it took most of the day.  Although we are not really “castle lovers”, Stirling Castle was well worth the time it took to explore its many buildings, courtyards, gardens, exhibits and viewpoints.  Built in the 14th century, Stirling Castle looms above the city of Stirling, providing some wonderful views of ancient battlegrounds with excellent, informative explanation panels.  Upon reaching Edinburgh, we filled the rental car with fuel, checked in to our accommodation, returned the car, and then walked around the city centre of Edinburgh, especially the roads around St Giles Cathedral and Edinburgh Castle, followed by a lovely wander around Calton Hill.
