We had time for a morning walk around the city centre of Edinburgh before going to the airport for our flight to the Faroe Islands. Edinburgh looked magnificent in the morning sunlight, so we made the most of our sightseeing before heading off to the airport in the late morning. Edinburgh Airport was absurdly busy, so we found a cafe with views of the runway while we waited for our plane. Our Atlantic Airways flight (RC415) was on an Airbus A320-200, registration OY-RCJ and took an hour and a quarter. After landing at Vágar Airport, we cleared immigration, collected our rental car and drove to our hotel in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands’ capital. Although we had sunny conditions in Vágar, we drove into thick fog as we approached Tórshavn, a fog that didn’t really lift until the morning of our departure a week later.
