Scotland and Faroe Islands Travel Diary 2023

Today’s drive involved a long circuit around the Firth of Forth, by-passing metropolitan Edinburgh and then crossing the Firth of Forth Bridge to the northern side of the forth.  After an early stop and walk around Tantallon Castle to the west of Dunbar, a large portion of today’s drive was a non-stop drive along motorways under overcast conditions to give us time to visit several small fishing ports on our way to Anstruther, our destination for the day.  The sun came out for a while at our first fishing village, St Monans, but overcast conditions returned when we visited the next fishing village, Pittenweem.  Overcast conditions continued as we drove to Anstruther, but we suddenly experienced sunshine for a couple of hours in the late evening before another band of clouds moved through, but it was enough time to take a walk down to the harbour and admire the colourful views.
