We spent today undertaking a day trip to two destinations, Glencoe and Ben Nevis. Glencoe is a small (almost twin) village of Ballachulish with a lovely bush walk around a tiny reservoir known as Gloencoe Lochan. because of the dry weather, the reservoir was almost dry, but the shady walk was pleasant nonetheless. The more ambitious trip was to Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest mountain (at 1,345 metres ASL). After parking our car we took the cable car to the upper zone, and then undertook two walks, one north and one south, from the cable car station. The views were impressive, although cloudy conditions made the sunlight intermittent and patchy at best. We made a short stop in the regional centre of Fort William before returning to our accommodation in Ballachulish.
